In this day and age of advanced globalization, individual air travel in one’s own or chartered aircraft plays a much more prominent role than even a few years ago when travelling by car was the measure of all things.

The increasingly crowded air travel market is divided into distinct civilian and military components, the latter complying with the laws of physics and the maintenance of national security.  The civilian side of the equation, however, is subject to additional financial pressures on a daily basis.

General aviation encompasses all aspects of civilian air aviation excluding regular-scheduled and chartered flights.  It includes all private as well as commercial flights and therefore constitutes the larger part of civilian aviation with regards to both number of aircraft and air movements.  Nevertheless, commercial aviation adopts entirely different ways of doing business compared to the larger segments of passenger travel.  There is next to no cooperation amongst the various companies; distrust and secrecy are common even though at the end of the day each company has only one goal:  to provide safe and ecologically sound services to the full satisfaction of their customers.
